Executive Summary
24 - Getting Sentimental Hey there! We’re a bit sentimental about this release, as it precedes a really fun upcoming milestone. On December 24, 2026, LineageOS will celebrate 10 years. It’s a remarkable milestone for a project built by a passionate community of developers, maintainers, contributors, and users who have kept so many devices alive along the way. This release is part of that story: one more step forward, and a small moment to appreciate how far we’ve come.
Open Silicon & Gate-Level Hardware Inspection
From a silicon and hardware engineering viewpoint: - **Interface Neutrality:** Mitigates dependency on proprietary BSPs, empowering open toolchains to address hardware directly. - **Supply Chain Verification:** Schematics and open pinouts allow deterministic audits against silicon errata. - **Lifecycle Decoupling:** Decouples physical hardware utility from commercial vendor end-of-life obsolescence.
Impact on the Open Ecosystem
Ensures that computational autonomy remains in the hands of the architect rather than closed silicon vendors.
