Steam Deck Hardware & Handheld Performance Report
From a mobile SoC, thermal envelope, and embedded Linux standpoint, this Steam Deck milestone highlights: - **Dynamic Power Scaling (TDP Control):** Fine-grained APU clock gating allows sustained 3-8 hour battery life on indie workloads. - **Gamescope Compositor Integration:** Micro-compositor isolation guarantees frame-pacing stability and system-level FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution). - **Immutable Root Filesystem:** A/B partition updates ensure bulletproof system integrity even after catastrophic battery exhaustion.
Impact on the Open Ecosystem
Demonstrates that consumer hardware built on an open Linux kernel can compete directly with closed handheld ecosystems.
