Why We Built FOSSWire
An independent, ad-free news wire for open source software, open hardware, kernels and Linux distributions. An AI editor writes a short brief for each story from the original announcement, and every brief links back to that source.
Core Pillars (Why Us?)
No Tracking
No Google Analytics, Meta pixels, fingerprinters, session recorders or cookies. Visitor counts on the Open Data page come from Cloudflare's aggregate edge analytics, which do not identify anyone.
Source First
Each brief is written only from facts in the original post: version numbers, CVE IDs and product names are kept as published, and the brief says what changed and who it affects. Marketing language and invented figures are filtered out.
220 Upstream Sources
About 220 upstream feeds (Linux kernel, Wayland, Mesa, LLVM, RISC-V, Rust, WineHQ, emulators and more) are read every two hours, and the site is rebuilt as static HTML.
AI-First & Bot-Friendly
Every story is published with JSON-LD metadata, a plain Markdown copy, RSS 2.0 feeds for the whole site and for each topic, and an open llms.txt index.
17 Languages, Universal Reach
The interface and every story can be read in 17 languages. Translations are made by the site's own AI translator, and technical names such as RISC-V, Wayland and PipeWire stay intact.

How We Write
- Who writes: briefs, the weekly digest and CVE Radar reviews are written by an AI editor running on Cloudflare Workers AI. Ozan Özdil runs the site, sets the rules and reviews corrections.
- Facts come from the source: every number, version, CVE ID and quote must appear in the original post. CVE severity comes from NVD, and actively exploited bugs are marked from the CISA KEV list.
- Always linked: each story names and links its original source. Read the source before acting on a security story.
- Read counts: the number next to a story is how many times it has been opened, counted by Cloudflare. The AI editor also gives each story a 1 to 10 importance score; it is not shown on stories and only helps pick highlights.
- Corrections: if a brief gets something wrong, write to [email protected] with the link. Corrected stories are rewritten from the source.
