Bazzite Linux adds ROG Xbox Ally X20 and Acer Predator Atlas to testing
Bazzite Linux is testing support for two new handheld gaming devices, the ROG Xbox Ally X20 and Acer Predator Atlas, with community help requested before full support is declared.
Summary
Bazzite Linux developers are preparing support for the ROG Xbox Ally X20 and Acer Predator Atlas handhelds. The Ally X20 already has working display with VRR and HDR, TDP control, mappable back buttons, and sleep/wake functionality, though RGB lighting and fan control remain incomplete. The Acer Predator Atlas has received initial button mapping commits but lacks working M1/M2 buttons and gyroscope support, with upstream driver work ongoing. Community testing is being solicited for both devices.
Current device support status
- ROG Xbox Ally X20: Display (VRR, HDR), TDP control, back button mapping, and sleep/wake are functional; custom TDP needs investigation
- Ally X20 gaps: RGB lighting pending OGC driver updates; fan control planned for OGUI plugins, with Decky Panel de Control as interim workaround
- Acer Predator Atlas: Initial button mapping committed; Guide+QAM/Predator button combo opens side menus
- Atlas blockers: Tap functionality requires upstream drivers (in progress); M1/M2 buttons and gyroscope non-functional in Linux
Why it matters
Expanding Bazzite's handheld device support reduces reliance on Windows 11 for gaming handhelds and strengthens the Linux handheld ecosystem through upstream driver contributions.
