Legacy Games store shutting down after nearly three decades

Legacy Games, a digital game store operating since 1998, announced it will wind down operations by the end of 2026. CEO Ariella Lehrer cited her retirement and industry changes as reasons for the closure. Customers can download purchased games until February 28, 2027, after which re-downloads will no longer be possible. The store distributed many titles through Amazon Prime and Luna promotions.

What Legacy Games customers need to know

• Download deadline: February 28, 2027 for all purchased games
• Games already downloaded and installed remain playable after deadline
• Re-downloads impossible after February 28, 2027 if uninstalled
• Customer support available via legacygames.com and company Gmail during transition
• Detailed reminder with instructions scheduled for November 1, 2026

Why it matters

The closure highlights ongoing consolidation in digital game distribution and the risks of DRM-dependent stores. Amazon Prime and Luna subscribers who accumulated free Legacy Games keys should verify their libraries before the deadline.
